Visited Sladers Yard at West Bay yesterday to see the work of the wonderful Vanessa Gardiner. Beautiful geometric studies of the Dorset coast on birch board. Mustn’t forget the lovely if rather expensive warmed cheese and red onion scones eaten in the restaurant downstairs!.
Took in the newly retired Jim Hunter exhibition at Bryantspuddle on the way back – good to see that his work is now a less angry response to the landscape and that he is now painting seriously again.
Also managed to get to the Roger Seddon exhibition in Broadstone – pastel with attitude – such vibrancy and a clever use of complementary colours to enhance the effect. Almost bought on!
